Bach pa Svenska
Johann Sebastian Bach and Swedish folk music

Despite continuous efforts in the research of historical performance practice, we can only speculate how Bach's music sounded at the time it was first performed. Most baroque musicians were heavily influenced by local traditions. Swedish organists sometimes played dance music with folk musicians at weddings and other celebrations. They might have taught their colleagues who couldn't read music a menuet, a bourée or a courante, perhaps even something by Bach. How would Bach have sounded in the hands of a Swedish fiddler?
