Les Sauvages
Airs and dances from operas by Jean-Philippe Rameau

Jean-Philippe Rameau is regarded as the greatest French opera composer of the 18th century. However he only composed his first opera when he was almost fifty - before that he made his living mainly as an organist but suprisingly left no music for this instrument. After his success in of opera, French organists began adapting popular tunes from his works and performing them in concerts. Yves Rechsteiner revives this practice and produces a varied programme of airs and dances in his own transcriptions and with a lively accompaniment of percussion instruments.
