Fire - Water - Earth - Air It was with Schubert's ensemble songs that the Gesellschaftslied
or party song made its way from small private gatherings into the
concert hall. The subtlety, maturity and expressive strength of
his best works for male voices are on the same high level as his
famous string quartets, songs and sonatas. Founded almost thirty
years ago,
the Singphoniker are considered the leading ensemble specializing
in this repertoire. Accompanied by an original piano from the period,
they will perform a varied programme of songs on texts by Goethe,
Schiller and others.
