»The Boatemen«
Ballads and dances brought across the 17th-century seas
Programme:
John Dowland, Henry Purcell, John Playford, Frederic Handel, Turlough
O`Carolan
On this musical voyage, we will sail the seas in company of a
Jovial Crew, including the ship`s Noise, the Fiddler`s
Wife and a Ferret, passing by medieval Guernsey, renaissance
Spain, Elizabethan England and baroque France. Ashore, Mr Priest
will guide our steps, lest we be led astray amongst the sirens and
Witches, or suffer an encounter with Mal Sims
or the Spanish Jeepsies. And no doubt, the Mariners
will row well, serve God daily, love one another, preserve their
victuals, beware of fire, and keep you good company.
