Gerd Türk studied in Frankfurt and at the Schola Cantorum Labacensis with René Jacobs and Richard Levitt. He quickly became a sought-after soloist, touring throughout Europe, South-East Asia, Japan, North and South America, and Australia. He has performed at the most prestigious concert halls including the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Berlin Philharmonic, Palais Garnier Paris, Teatro Colón, Musikverein Wien, Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center New York, with conductors such as Philippe Herreweghe, René Jacobs, Ton Koopman, Jordi Savall, Masaaki Suzuki and Frans Brüggen. For many years he was a member of Cantus Cölln, Germany’s leading vocal ensemble for baroque music, and the Ensemble Gilles Binchois, renowned for its interpretation of medieval music. As an opera singer, he has appeared in Montpellier, Innsbruck, Barcelona, Antwerp and Madrid. He has recorded more than a hundred CDs for Sony, Erato, BIS, BMG, Virgin and Harmonia Mundi France. Gerd Türk is professor at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis and gives master classes in Japan, Germany, Spain, France and South Korea.
