Viking skalds created some of the most heroic and complex poetry of the time. Two well- known Scandinavian specialists for medieval music reconstruct their sound world on the basis of extant scaldic poetry, traditional tunes from Iceland, Sweden, Norway and Denmark as well as musical instruments that have been found by archeologists or are known from depictions and the poems themselves.
